Our client’s growing family had reached the limits of their builders mid-eighties contemporary. The beautiful location near the sea convinced them to stay in place and try to expand within a limited footprint. The resulting addition seamlessly continues the original roof lines while growing in length (a new terrace room) and width (new dining room and kitchen) and in height (a new expanded bedroom). A new deck, windows and pine tar coated siding unifies the original house and addition, erasing the boundaries between. The wood clad terrace room re centers family life to the outdoors, the expansive sliding glass panels further blurring boundaries- between inside and outside.
